The No Ordinary Rabbit storefront on Tower Grove Avenue at dusk

Our story

Mediterranean by way of the Midwest.

No Ordinary Rabbit is a small restaurant and bar at 1621 Tower Grove Avenue in Botanical Heights, from proprietor David Zitko with Stephen Kovac as executive chef.

The No Ordinary Rabbit menu is Mediterranean food with Midwest ingredients: hummus and dips, curated tinned fish, charred vegetables, gnocchi, merguez meatballs and steaks built to share.

The bar is half the story. Carmen Estrada's wine list runs from pet-nat and Champagne to Etna reds and Missouri chambourcin, and the N.O.R. cocktails are as playful as their names.

We're a small room, so reservations are by phone only and we only reserve half the restaurant. Walk-ins are always an option, and happy hour runs Tuesday to Saturday from 3 to 5.

Mediterranean x Midwest. Cocktails x wine. Vibes.

Why the Rabbit

Three reasons to pull up a stool.

  1. A menu that shares

Dips, tinned fish and shareable plates from chef Stephen Kovac, changing with the season.

  2. A real wine list

Sommelier Carmen Estrada pours cava, pet-nat, orange, rosé and reds by the glass and bottle, with a house red and white at $8.

  3. Happy hour, Tue–Sat

3 to 5 PM: $6 house wines, $3 off N.O.R. cocktails, $2 off spritzes, plus beer and tinned fish specials.
